Forgotten FO

I realised this week that I have a finished object from before Christmas that I had completely forgotten to blog about. Oooops *laughs*

I mentioned, during the mammoth Christmas crafting, that I had cast on something small for myself, using yarn that my lovely brother had bought me some time ago. He was a little bummed to realise that his wonderful gift of 3 small balls of different yarns wouldn't be enough to make anything particularly, so I wanted to show him that it is totally possible to make cool and useful things with small amounts *smiles*

Those who have made one of these will recognise it immediately no doubt, and those that haven't will be wondering what the hell it is *laughs*

It's a Calorimetry, a head/ear warmer. It works perfectly when I have my hair tied up and can't wear a hat (I look weird with a hat and no visible hair!)

Sorry for the truly terrible picture, my photographer is rather inconveniently in Germany.

Pattern: Calorimetry
Yarn: Sirdar Crofter - which was gorgeous to work with, I love it
Modifications: some sizing changes as I used DK weight, but otherwise as written

I love it, and really enjoyed showing my brother that his yarn made something awesome and useful *grins* I might have to make more of these in different colours to suit different outfits ;)

It's Friday, you know what to do... Visit Tami'sNatural Suburbia and Wisdom Begins in Wonder. Have a great weekend

  6. Very pretty! My friend makes these and sells them by the tons at craft shows - they are definitely "it" right now! Your brother has good taste in colors too - just lovely!

  7. I really love the color of the yarn, it works so well with the pattern (I've seen some bad Calorimetery's in my time). I'm particularly excited that you were able to use up a small amount of yarn, because that is the ultimate knitting dream.

  8. Cute! I've never tried that pattern but certainly have seen a lot of them knit by others over the years. It's so cute that your brother would give you a little yarn. Happy Fiber Arts Friday!

  16. Cool headband! I've been working up some earwarmer/headbands as a way to use up those small leftover balls of yarn, and this pattern will be a nice change of pace- thanks!

  17. lol...I had no clue what it was, and am not familiar with that term. You learn new things everday. I tend to only wear my hair up in the summer when I'm hot, as I need my ears covered. Interesting idea, think my DD might like something like this. Must ask.

  18. The colors worked out nicely. I made one of these before (not sure if it was the same pattern, but it was definitely the same concept) and completely forgot about it until now. I remember wearing it, too... maybe I should make it's replacement now that my hair is long again.

  29. I recognised the pattern imediately, not because ive made it but because ive been meaning to for so long!yours is great, now im even more inspired. When I began knitting I couldn't believe how many balls each project takes so I can deffinately see that your brother probably imagined lots of projects from those three small balls
