Finally Finished(ish) Friday

I finished my Clapotis *pauses for applause... ;)*

Unfortunately, you still only get a teaser shot, as it isn't blocked yet. But, the knitting is finished, and it will be blocked in time for the do on Sunday, so I'm happy! I will post more pictures once it is properly finished, but I couldn't not post about it today, could I? *laughs*

Pattern: Clapotis
Yarn: Mini Mochi in Jungle
Modifications: Followed the instructions to make it a stole rather than scarf
Difficulty: 2/5
Enjoyment: 2/5 (but that's due to the deadline rather than the pattern I think!)
Would I make again? Maybe, but not for some considerable time!

Now, I feel a little like I'm cheating as this isn't 100% finished, so I have also got something else to share...

It may look like a fuzzy alien egg (to me anyway), but actually it's a Smoothie Hat! For those who don't know, Innocent drinks do a "big knit", where they ask knitters to donate little hats for their smoothie bottles. For each bottle sold with a hat, they donate 25p to Age UK to help make winter warmer for older people who need a little help. I've always thought it was a cute idea, and this year I get to join in *smiles*

So, my first smoothie hat. I will be making plenty more, they're a nice quick project when you need some finished object gratification ;) As I don't have a smoothie bottle handy, I had to pose it on a ribena bottle, but at least the colours coordinate *laughs*

Pattern: Big Knit Pattern Guide
Yarn: Stylecraft Raffia
Modifications: Made it garter stitch, it looks cute in this yarn
Difficulty: 1/5
Enjoyment: 4/5 so quick and satisfying!
Would I make again? I'll definitely be making more

Friday is lots of fun in blogland, take a look at these cool link parties for more crafty goodness:

  10. I've always thought that making the knit clapotis must be quite alarming - in the crochet version, you just use chains rather than stitches to make the holes. Unravelling sounds rather drastic, but it's given a great result, and I love the stripes :) It's going to look awesome once it's blocked, and will be great for a summer evening.

  25. Clapotis is all about endurance, isn't it? I suspect there are thousands of them around the world, stuck in a half-finished state.

Yours is beautiful -- I love the stripes in combination with the lines of the drop stitches.

  26. Hoorah for finishing things on time - it's looking great.

I owe my love for knitting to Innocent's big knit. My sister decided to take up knitting so she could make small hats about four years ago and I really liked the idea and joined in too.

  27. Hooray for finishing the Clap! I love how the yarn striped out. When I knitted mine, the yarn wasn't in as large of stripes and it ended up being too busy for me but yours is GORGEOUS! I can't wait to see it blocked.

  31. You are very luck to have a supportive boyfriend in the yarn department. :-)

Hubba supports me by buying yarn and alpacas. He used to work as my swift until he found out it's a tool available for sale. Then he supported me by buying a swift. lol.

  32. Well, I was determined to clap for you right from the get-go, but I see you have plenty of adoring fans as it is! I wonder what one does with a smoothie hat once one buys the bottle and empties it?

    ReplyDelete
  33. The clapotis looks lovely! And you are very lucky to have a boyfriend who supports you with your yarn - mine can't wait for me to get rid of my yarn and my fabric so he can have more room in the closet :P

  34. I'm really glad I came to check out the Clapotis - it's YUMMMYYYY!!!!!! And yay for a lovely bf.

Love the idea of the Innocent hats - will also look into that.

  37. Love the colours in the Clapotis wrap. Lucky you having such a helpful man in your life, mine won't even let me knit in the car (apparently the click click click noise drives him nuts!). LOVE the smoothie hat, I should do it too!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Love the Clapotis! Great colours. I've made four so I too do not think I'll be making more any time soon. (But they do make great gifts.)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Do you know, I think I'm the only one who hasn't made one of those wraps? I'm not a fan of drop stitches, I think that's why. I love your little hat, too, I love the fuzzy yarn & it's a great use for a novelty yarn!

I'm here belated from Friday fo!
