Good morning and welcome to another WIPW round up of my current progress. I'm quite liking having a defined point to check up on where I am :)
Green top has progressed. Slowly. In fact, even though I've got up to the second buttonhole (about 16 rows from where I was last week), it doesn't look discernibly different *sigh* So, no picture this week, as the lack of visible progress is simply dull!
Mermaid scarf is still waiting to be frogged back to the mistake. I'm hesitating because I know that I'll get lost and confused and end up ripping the whole thing out. I'd like to avoid this, so I am pretending it just doesn't exist currently *laughs*
So, onto the more exciting progress shots...
I finished the cable part of my bag, and have picked up the stitches to knit the rest of the bag down from there. Stocking stitch in the round makes this a nice easy project, technically, however I'm trying to do magic loop for the first time and it's being quite strange... May need to check out the tutorials again and see if I'm doing it right!
I have bought fabric to line the bag with, which looks really cute. But I don't have appropriate bag handles yet, so this won't be finished properly by Friday as I'd hoped. Oh well, better to get it finished right than finished fast ;)
As I posted yesterday, boyfriend and I went to visit my mum at the weekend, leaving me with a good 2 hour car journey each way... Of course I had to cast on a small portable project to take with me *grins*
Zauberball socks:
I'm still sticking to the plain vanilla sock formula, but this time I've thrown in some purl rows for texture (and interest during the knitting!). As you can see, I've got as far as turning the heel, and the colour transitions are amazing. The yarn is quite splitty, but I'm not too fussed, they're just socks for me ;)
That's my lot for this week, but head on over to Tami's to see what other bloggers have been up to :)
I love those cables and WOW that wool you are using for your socks is amazing. I might have to pinch your idea of the purl rows for my next socks, they look rather cool!
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see those socks finished, the colour changes are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe second WIPW link I've clicked on and the second beautiful yarn - wow! This is going to get very expensive!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose socks are going to be AMAZING!!! I'll be posting my first WIP Wednesday post later today :) Very excited
ReplyDeleteI love your cables. And the yarn for your socks looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness- LOVE that zauberball color. Those socks are going to be fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThe cable is fabulous, and the colors in your sock are awesome. I hear ya on the frogging, getting lost and frustrated and then frogging. I've got a project that may be in the same category. I just keep moving it to the bottom of the pile.
ReplyDeletePoor Mermaid Scarf - reminds me of my friend who says sometimes her projects need a "time out!" Your cables are lovely. Love the sock yarn - how fun!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you're doing magic loop right to me! It's coming out stockinette, so hey, what could be wrong?
ReplyDeleteI love zauberball. I need to buy it someday.
I think the cable looks great. That sock is awesome in color - bright and fun
ReplyDeleteVery cool projects. I LOVE that sock yarn.
ReplyDeleteVery looks great! I love that Zauberball colorway.
ReplyDeleteLove the cable bag... hope to try cables soon myself
ReplyDeleteLove your cable! I hope you get the hang of Magic Loop. I use it for everything I knit in the round... even glove fingers. It's so much faster for me than dpns.
ReplyDeleteThose cables look great!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the sock yarn! The cable bag looks great. I have a sweater sitting in the bag for same reason you're waiting on your Mermaid scarf. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose socks are going to be spectacular with that yarn!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThat sock yarn is to dye for!!
ReplyDeleteThat Zauberball is astounding heart-wrenchingly beautiful. I'm not usually crazy about orange but I want to simultaneously eat that and bathe in it.
ReplyDeleteOoooh ....Zauberball ....*drools like Homer Simpson*
ReplyDeleteLove your cables and that Zauberball yarn. It looks like you are doing Magic Loop correctly. . . but what length is your needle? I can't tell for sure in the photo, but it looks like you might be using a shorter one than I like to use with magic loop. It's easier if you have a very long cable, like 40" or so. Magic loop is definitely worth getting the hang of, as it makes circular knitting go faster.
ReplyDeleteooh I love the sock yarn! Such fab colours. And the cable bag is great. Lovely work.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Zauberball fun to knit with? Nothing wrong with plain vanilla socks, especially in that amazing colourway. Can't wait to see your finished bag. The cables look great. I love magic loop, but it does take a little time to get used to.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric you chose to go with your cabled bag. They really compliment each other.
ReplyDeleteMy jaw dropped when I saw your Zauberball socks. I love the colors! I've always wanted to knit socks, but I'm still working on the knitting part :P Maybe I can find a fun crochet sock pattern to satisfy myself in the mean time ;)
That zauberball is AWESOME!! Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteI have that cabled bag on my to-do list now :-) Very cute!
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with rainbow Zauberball... Everyone wants your socks!
So, Zauberball is fairly popular then *laughs* Thanks for all the lovely comments, and for the tips on magic loop too (Affiknitty - you're absolutely right)!
ReplyDeleteThe bag is going to be awesome!!!! I love it and can't wait to see what fabric you chose to line it. The colors of your socks are so pretty. What great color transition!
ReplyDeleteAs far as magic loops, I use a 24" or 32" cable for socks, so for a bag that size (which I don't know what size it is, but is bigger than a sock), I'd suggest a 40" or bigger, as Affiknitty suggested.
