Work In Progress Wednesday Number 25

Subtitled: I really need a plan for these WIPs!

You may be forgiven for thinking I have simply reposted last week's picture - it feels like so little progress has happened that I might as well have done *exasperated laugh*

So, I need a plan. As I've mentioned before, I have the Christmas knitting projects on the go as well, which of course means more progress has been made than I can show. But even so, these projects seem to be dragging on forever!

Cria, the lovely but mind-numbing cardigan that seems to have become my nemesis, is slowly (very slowly) increasing in length.

I think I shall stick with my a-few-rows-when-I-can-summon-the-motivation approach to this one. I have tried just powering on with it, but that lasts for about 5 rows before I get so fed up I have to move on ;)

As the hitchhiker is so close to being finished, I have decided to get it done and off the needles. It shouldn't take too much longer, and the feeling of accomplishment of finally finishing something should be impetus enough (and if not, it's getting quite chilly out there now, which is another excellent motivator *laughs*)

My sock is still languishing, with a single row thrown on here and there just so I feel like I have done something to it ;) However, I have a couple of long train journeys coming up this weekend, so this will be the project I take. Hopefully some significant progress will be made.

The fuzzy ballet sweater - I've started the second front. I stopped almost as soon as I had started as I was extremely sleepy and convinced that I would accidentally make 2 left fronts or something stupid. Once I pick it back up again, it should move along fairly quickly... I hope. Once I have the hitchhiker out of the way, this will become project number one.

So, that's the basis of my plan. I reserve the right to throw it out the window, as I tend to do as soon as I make a plan *rolls eyes at self* But it would be nice to actually finish some of these so I can move on. As much as I like and want the items I'm working on, I want something new and shiny now ;)

Finally, the book in the picture is "When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit" by Judith Kerr. Another book I read as a child that I have recently tracked down. I actually don't remember much of it at all, but I recall enjoying it so I wanted to revisit it.

So, that's it from me, but you know where to go for more works in progress and yarn along posts ;)

  1. that is a really lovely cardi pattern, I'm sure it will be worth the pattern.

Hitchhiker will be my next project after my current shawl. I love the pattern

  3. Good luck! Whenever I attempt a knitting plan, the knitting says, "Ha! Plan schman!"

  4. I'm really inspired by seeing all of the knitting you've done so far - so much so that I decided that I would have 20 minutes left on the computer and then settle down to knit - I guess it is a small knitting plan. And thanks for the book too, I love Judith Kerr but have never seen this one. I'm sure you will have your knitting done, it is so much like life, when we are bored with a situation - we want something shiney and new - very true for me too. Katie x

  5. You do have a lot of knitting projects, but I think if you just continue to work on them a little at a time you'll be surprised at how much you can accomplish! See, I have confidence in you!:)

  7. Cria really looks like it's coming on, however hard work it is. And I know exactly what you mean about not keeping going when you're tired - you never know how many stitches you're going to end up with!

  8. It might be mind numbing but it is gorgeous!! Love the construction. Keep working and soon you will have a lovely cardigan :)

  11. You'll get it all done eventually. Slow progress is better than none at all.
Cria is lovely. Can I vote you work on that?

  12. I sometimes find it stressful having lots on the go at once, but i'm sure if you just keep working on them a little bit at a time, you'll soon get there!

  13. I understand not feeling like you're accomplishing anything. Pick the project that's closest to being finished and focus on it. Sometimes any finish will help to motive you to work on other things. And hey, we are both reading books that involve Hitler. Think yours won't be as intense. Or at least I hope not.

  14. What I love most about having so many "active" (as opposed to those unloved/put-in-la-la-land) projects, is that eventually, they all seem to tumble to their ta-dah moment quickly!!! That's such a rush to be finishing up project after project after project!!!!! You are getting there--hang in. Your projects all are looking great!!! (Are we all being good cheerleaders, keeping you motivated!!) :)

  15. I think we're in the same boat...too many projects and not enough time. If only I had a clone of myself so I could knit all the time and my clone does all the other stuff.

  20. I love the fuzzy ballet sweater. All your projects are great. I only have two things in progress right now and it really doesn't feel like enough.

  21. You do have a lot of projects and I can understand getting bored with them. I think you'll really feel a huge sense of relief once the socks and hitchhiker are done. Cria may just be your "only a few rows here and there" project, but that is okay! Yes, I'm also trying to convince myself of that since I have one of those as well!! ;-D They all look great though. I've never heard of that book and just looked it up. You said you read it as a child? I wonder if it's too "old" for fourth graders... I'll have to check that, but thanks for mentioning it.

  22. Oh man my projects always last a while. I am shocked the cowl took so little time. Cardigans seem to be a bit beastly in the time department. Yours looks rich and beautiful. It'll work out. You have a lot on the needles. I am looking forward to watching you go through them even though they are a haul for you.
Hey and I totally bought that Vampire Knits book!

  24. Good luck, i hope you get hitchhiker finished this week. I always feel more movitated after I've actually finished something. And I love that book! I recently reread it myself and it definitely stands up to rereading as an adult

  25. The cardi is beautiful--it's a shame it's giving you so much grief (don't large projects always do that?).
I love the sock yarn, too!

Best of luck working with your knitting plan. :)

  27. I agree, atleast you've made a little progress on everything!

I need to do more on my Hitchhiker. I love the yarn I'm using (Wollmeise Poison Nr 5) but I need to get back into the swing of this. Seeing yours nearly finished has inspired me to pick it back up again!

  30. Sounds like a good plan to me. You could do a one a day type thingy on the cria, one row per day

  31. The whole point of making a plan is being able to throw it out the window ....and make another one ;-)

  32. Cria is gorgeous, I'm sure you'll be delighted when it's finished! Good luck with your ballet sweater.

  33. A friend of mine threads in little markers at the end of each day (or work session) on those projects that seem to take forever. The little bits of thread show that you have indeed been making progress.

It's a tip I plan to use, but I haven't been brave enough to start another sweater. ;-)

Your's buy the way is beautiful!
