Work In Progress Wednesday Number 22

Good morning and welcome to another post in Tami's Work in Progress Wednesday and Ginny's Yarn Along memes *smiles*

One thing may strike you about this picture... My blanket is conspicuously absent *grins* Come back on Friday to see the (finally!) finished item in all its glory ;)

So, that brought me down to two WIPS - my Cria and my sock. The sock hasn't seen much action in the last week, I've just not been in a sock knitting mood. Cria however, despite appearances, is slightly longer than the last time I showed it. It doesn't look much longer, but there has been progress. Just slow progress, as I am really not enjoying this knit. The yarn is lovely but, whilst it is very soft, it is 50% cotton which I don't love knitting with.

Eagle eyed readers may now point out that there are 3 projects on the needles in the first picture *cheeky grin* And you would be correct. At the bottom of the picture is the start of this cute wraparound shrug/crop ballet jumper top.

What can I say, I need more than 2 projects on the go or I get bored (and super secret knitting projects at this time of year don't count!)

The book in the picture is Z for Zachariah, a book I loved as a teenager. I tracked it down and have been enjoying it again. I love re-reading childhood favourites, although they can sometimes disappoint as an adult!

  1. I can't get the hang of cotton either. I have 5 balls of beautiful pink tweedy-textured recycled Rowan cotton that I really splurged on about 5 years ago, but it just knits up badly with no stretch and everything I try goes out of shape. I'll check back to this post later to see if any of your followers have any cotton-knitting hints!

  2. I agree about re-reading favorites. It's what I'm doing now, although I do feel a bit guilty about not trying new things.

You made that blanket in a flash! Looking forward to friday.

  4. I remember reading Z for Zachariah at school - which is probably why I don't remember it very fondly, lol. Pulling books to pieces and digging out all the metaphors doesn't tend to endear them to me!

Cria's looking great and the ballet sweater is really cute. Looking forward to seeing the blanket on Friday!

  5. Hooray for finishing your blanket. I can not wait to see the finished item. I have been making plans to cast on my own for one of my son's. There is no way I can have it completed my Christmas, maybe next year? xx

  6. Your Cria looks fabulous. Cotton can be pesky to work, but it looks like it's worth it.

Like you, I have to have lots of things on the go at once, and I love the yarn you're using for your ballet sweater. It looks fuzzy and shiny all at the same time!

  14. Beautiful color on your Cria -- sorry to hear you're not enjoying it. Hopefully a beautiful FO will make up for some of the drudgery?

  15. I know what you mean about cotton...it's very hard on my fingers too, so I don't like to use it for a big project if I can help it. I can't wait to see the ballet top!

I'm the same way with books...There are quite a few from my youth that I can read over and over again.

  19. Cotton isn't my favorite either, but yours is knitting up in such a lovely way! I know what you mean about needing to be in the mood for sock knitting. One of the many reasons it takes me so long to get mine done!

  21. Not so keen on cotton here either, although it does have it's uses (toddler girl dresses and dishcloths, preferably dresses lol). That is a beautiful shade of blue though and the work is looking great. Only just discovered your blog but can see I'm going to have to stick around to see this much anticipated blanket!
