The last few evenings have been depressingly chilly so I've only wanted to work on the blanket, which keeps me nice and warm while I'm knitting *laughs* I'm thinking that I might add a couple of blocks to the pattern, to make it a bit bigger and use up some more yarn *grins* I'm not following the pattern dimensions, so I think it should work, but I'll wait and see once I've finished the original blocks.
I started a new book this morning, Popco by Scarlett Thomas. It's actually been sitting on my bookshelf for months and months, but I haven't fancied starting it. This morning it jumped into my hands ready for the bus to work and who am I to argue with a pushy book? I'm only a couple of chapters in, but I'm enjoying it so far *smiles*

Yippee for books jumping off shelves!
ReplyDeleteI love the blanket, you tease.
I can knit in the car as long as there is no reading of patterns involved. What I can't do is crochet, makes me very car sick.
That blanket looks like it's going to be amazing. What's your pattern?
ReplyDeleteWow - the blanket is looking great - you've gotten a lot done (or some great photography to make it look like a lot done?). Love the color of the new sock too!
ReplyDeleteEven slow progress is still progress. Can't wait to see the finished blanket. It looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteWow that blanket is simply stunning and I cannot believe you will make it bigger!!
ReplyDeleteI knit more slowly in the car too - I think it's all the jostling or maybe those darn green lights - you mean I have to set aside my knitting & drive (only kidding - I do not knit & drive). The books sounds interesting. I looked it up on Amazon and wished-listed it to hold ideas.
ReplyDeleteI love those colors in your blanket!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished blanket!!
ReplyDeleteI hope my books don't jump off the shelf, considering I read mine on my Nook!!!
Love the colors you are using in your blanket....please share a picture of your finished socks.

Ooh, I'm terribly jealous of both your gorgeous blanket and your chilly evenings. It's still very much summer here in Colorado. Hope you love your book! I'm always amazed at the differences between book covers in the UK and the US. The Popco covers look nothing alike. I wonder what that means?
ReplyDeleteLol at the pushy book!!! It certainly is getting chillier in the evenings but with it brings a new desire to finish projects xx
ReplyDeleteI only have eyes for that blanket!!!! I can't wait to see its full glory.
ReplyDeleteAnd Popco is one that I started reading before I got hooked on A Game Of Thrones. I've gone onto the next in the series now, but plan to go back to Popco as My Y was one of my favourite books the year it came out.
Happy knitting & reading!
good stuff! i know how you feel about never ending projects. :D my circles are taking far too long to get through my goal. i haven't read a non-childrens book in over 10 years. i need to start but probably won't get to one until my kiddos get older. :)
ReplyDeletehappy wipw & thanks for stopping by & leaving such great comments. :o)
i've had books do that to me too :)
ReplyDeleteyour blanket looks amazing, i like that your waiting for the final reveal. i have a shawl i'm working on too that is so lovely to cuddle in my lap on foggy damp nights. lovely sock too! good luck with that second one!
Can't wait to see the finished blanket! Wow...the never-ending blanket sounds rather intimidating....(I'm a newer knitter:) Enjoy your read!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right. It has been chilly the last few evenings and that's exactly why I've been looking at blanket patterns to cast on!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see yours done!
Beautiful stitches on your blanket. It's going to be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI remember knitting my Moderne Baby Blanket. I know the last few blocks seemed to take forever. Good luck on finishing it!
ReplyDeleteI covet that blanket!
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is beautiful! I am just slow knitter all the way around so I admire how much you accomplish! xx
ReplyDeleteYour blanket looks so neat and perfect, I can't wait to see the whole thing!
ReplyDeleteThat blanket looks like fun! I know I love sitting under the thing I'm working on. It's a teaser all it's own. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.
ReplyDeleteYes, we're now entering blanket-making season. they're just not as much fun during the summer. good luck seeing your way to the end of your neverending one!

I'm still loving the colours of your blanket can't wait to see it finished
ReplyDeleteYour blanket looks like it would be comfy and warm. I knit slower in a moving vehicle, because I keep looking out the windows.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried knitting in the car yet - to be honest, I'm a bit afraid I'll get car sick! I love the colors for the sock, it's a beautiful shade of blue
ReplyDeleteFrom the teaser the blanket is looking great. Knitting in the car is a great way to use up the time but I find it can get a bit hot and sticky
ReplyDeleteI love books that make me want to read them. I have quite a few on my shelves just now, waiting for their moment to jump! Good luck with the second sock - I have crocheted in the car before, but I lost my count doing decreases for my amigurumi and had to frog most of it back!
ReplyDeleteI keep coming back for that blanket.... I feel like a kid on a road trip - "are we there yet?!" It looks amazing, as usual.
