As I mentioned on Monday, I have been working on the socks I shall now call my Super Awesome Happy Rainbow Socks (my mum now insists I name all my sock projects as it amuses her, and I do aim to please *laughs*)

In fact, I have mostly been working on these socks - they've still got a way to go because I'm planning to knit as far as the yarn will go to make the most of the yarn, but they're currently my main project

I have made a little bit of progress on my shawl too. A row here and there (and quite a few rows while watching The Bourne Identity - action films apparently make me knit faster!) and it's almost done. Almost.

As you can see from the bottom of the picture, there is something new going on too. After a stressful week at work, combined with the migraine I mentioned on Friday, I wanted something new but different. So I decided to learn to crochet a granny square...

It actually went quite well *smiles* So I am now making lots of black, orange and black & orange squares. I don't really have a plan for them yet but I'm enjoying the rhythm of the stitches and the hook.

Incidentally, photographing black with radioactive orange is challenging *laughs*

See?!

So here's my little stack, I'm not being too fussy about them. Some have small errors but overall they look pretty good. And it uses up some stash yarn that had no purpose. I'll save deciding what to do with them until I've made a few more I think ;)

As ever, if you want more lovely knitting and reading content, head to Tami's and Ginny's *smiles*

  2. Loving the Halloween granny squares - I keep making forays into crocheting and forgetting how to do afterwards - maybe I should follow your example and make a stack of granny squares too... Rainbow socks are fab too!

  3. I think you mom is on to something and everyone should name their socks! ;)
Your granny square looks pretty amazing, I still can't get the hang of crocheting.
Have a great yarn along day!

  6. Learning something new seems like an odd thing to do when you have a headache, are sick, had a bad week etc; but well done. Grannies are sooooooooo useful; but putting them together can become a bit tedious if you do too many in a row or change colors too frequently...all those ends to work in. I name all the afghans I make for charity, for Bridge and Beyond; so why not name your socks, lol.

  12. I hope your mom gives suggestions for names! Sometimes it's difficult to name a project.

  15. Welcome to the crochet side! We have cookies ;)

Love the granny squares - I never worry about little mistakes in anything, pretty much, unless it's vital. I figure if anyone's looking close enough to notice, they're looking too closely! And if they care, that's their problem not mine :D Looks like you're having fun, and that's the main thing.

  17. Your socks and squares are awesome. And yes knitting projects should be named. Ha! I love that action movies make you knit faster. I have to try that, but I always get caught up in the movie. Of course I have been knitting to Cranford. Maybe that's why I am so slow. :)

  20. Love the socks! And the fact that you're crocheting Halloween-themed granny squares with no particular purpose. That's all kinds of awesome! I can't wait to see what they grow up to be! :)

  21. Your link wasn't working this morning, but now I've checked back after work and voilĂ ! Love the rainbow coloured socks. My projects tend to name themselves in my head, but perhaps I'm just peculiar that way :)

  24. Those are some tough colors to photograph. I hate when you try a bunch of different shots and lights and every one looks different.

Love the rainbow socks, but really love their name more! :-)
