Spinning Around*

I mentioned on Monday how I'd been very into spinning lately. Well, between spinning the 2 singles for my blue yarn, I grabbed a handful of the fibre Heather sent me and had a quick go with it *grins*

I only used a little, and was fairly quick and easy about it. So my singles ended up pretty chunky, but that was fine for this little experiment. I just wanted to see what it was like to spin.

Plied together, I had an approximately aran/worsted weight, which I was very happy with *smiles*

So I knitted it into a strip, just to see what it looked like...

It was a lot of fun spinning this - the colour changes made it really interesting and a nice break from the denim blue. It was slightly strange though - going from spinning merino to corriedale, such a different texture and feel to it.

I'm now spinning the rest of the fibre, but this time much thinner to get as much as possible out of what I have. No idea what I'll use it for, but that's not the point at all *laughs*

*Yeah, I know, not very imaginative! I'm running out of spinning related titles that are clever ;)

  2. Your fiber is so pretty! You are getting quite good at the spinning. You mentioned a while back you were buying a book about spinning, how was it? I've set my spindle aside, but want to get back to it and think a book might help!

  4. Awesome colours. So fresh and bright!

*I pretty much gave up on captioning my pictures because the stress of being clever and witty was just too much for my early morning blogging ritual :(

  7. It's lovely! I tried my new drop spindle the other day and posted on Facebook that I wasn't so happy with my first attempt (you can see it here - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=333225770084470&set=a.159425930797789.39710.158169594256756&type=1&theater) . I guess it's a case of practicing.

I've been trying to comment on your blog for a few days but having trouble on my ipad for some reason. Have a lovely weekend in the sunshine : )
