Work In Progress Wednesday Number 38

This week's picture is one of those that doesn't look wildly different from last week - Shalom is longer (and easier to photograph!) but not impressively so. The sock is longer, but not in a way that is all that noticeable.

However there are 2 key differences... The lack of fuzzy mohair indicates that the ballet sweater is finished *grins* Well, I still need to attach the ties, but it'll be ready for a reveal on Friday. Finally ;)

And there is a new project at the front, a pair of mitts. This is actually the second of the pair, I flew through the first one while I was procrastinating about knitting the ties for the ballet sweater *laughs* The pattern is Treads, which has a lovely stitch pattern accent around the wrist and the top of the hand.

The yarn is a lot more teal than that in real life, but no matter what I did the camera just wouldn't pick it up. It's the Debbie Bliss Fez that the lovely Laura sent me, in case I wanted to use it as a contrast colour for the grey version I bought. I think I have decided what to do with the grey, which doesn't need a contrast, so I get to use the gorgeous teal for something else *grins*

After the cold weather snap, I wanted some more mitts, and this yarn is so cosy and soft. Even better, I've found a way to link the pattern into a Nerd Wars challenge *grins*

I feel like there is less knitting progress than usual to show you, but this might have something to do with that:

*grins*

As ever, if you want more lovely knitting and reading content, head to Tami's and Ginny's *smiles* And if you're a regular, check out my post yesterday for an awesome giveaway!

  1. Lovely projects as usual, I love the mitts! I bought one of those learn to spin kits as well, and now I feel like I'm becoming addicted to something new. At first I was too hard on myself, I felt that I wasn't getting uniform thickness (did that happen with you?) but I think as I work at it I'll get better. Of course now I spend too much time looking at roving online, but such is life!

  2. I love the teal of your mittens and I defintely understand the frustration of just not quite getting the color. And the newly spun yarn is lovely too. :)

  3. Those mitts are gorgeous. I have big plans for something like that for me (soon) but I'm thinking I'll go for something entirely fingerless. Cheat? Perhaps x

  16. I love the colour of the shalom. I keep seeing examples of it on different blogs and am dying to have a go myself but like you seem to have so many other projects on the go too...maybe next week...

Debbie Bliss, Fez is so soft isn't it...I think it has camel hair in it...hence the name...

Looking forward to see the finish items...

  24. Ooh, that mitten looks perfect for the yarn. And it's so tricky trying to photograph these colours, isn't it? Blues and purples just refuse to work properly.

Shalom looks like it's coming on a-pace. You'll be able to wear it before you know it!

  25. Natalie, Love all your projects again this week. Have you tried to use Picnik to edit your pics. You could probably get the exact color the yarn really is. I have been waiting to see the ballet sweater for a while. Its so nice for someone to actually finish their projects (unlike me haha, second week that I don't participate in the yarn along). Great job

  28. I love the texture detail on those mittens! I recently got some Fez in the John Lewis sale and it seems like really lovely yarn. They only had brown in stock in my local store, which is a shame because the colour of your mittens is beautiful! Your handpsun looks lovely too :)
