Work in Progress Wednesday Number 40

This week I finished my first sock, but as I have 2 other pairs of socks on the go, I decided not to cast on the second one right away. I think there is probably such a thing as too many socks at once *laughs* Since I finished that, I have been working on Shalom, which is now at the waist shaping stage and shouldn't take too much longer to finish the body.

I also cast on for a vest to go over a shirt, in my lovely 100% alpaca yarn that has been waiting patiently in stash for a while. Well, with lots of socks on the go, I needed something new and exciting for me too *laughs*

I haven't been reading much, but I have bought the first book in the Hunger Games trilogy, as I have heard so much about it that I figured it was about time I knew what people were talking about ;) Haven't started it yet, so it's a little sneaky to picture, but I will be starting it this evening so I think it counts *laughs* I hate when I can only find a book with the film tie-in cover though, is that just me?!

  1. I agree about the film picture on the books cover...although I definitely make an exception for Vampire Diaries and Twilight...but that is just me :-)

  2. I am very excitedt to see your Shalom when you finish; after seeing the pattern I put it in my library and hope to start one soon.
I agree about the book covers. I think movie tie in covers look very tacky!
    Have a happy yarn along!

  5. The Hunger Games is such a good book, you won't be able to put it down! Good luck with finishing your socks, it's always so hard to make the second one!

  8. I think you are a sock knitting machine!

And yes, I agree with you, I dislike a book's cover when it advertises the movie. Argh!

  9. I also hate the film tie-in cover thing with books! And have very, very mixed feelings about the whole Hunger Games series/phenomenon, which I'll spare you---the first book is a good read, though, I hope you'll like it. :)

And mmm, a 100% alpaca vest. That sounds lovely.

  11. Too many socks? Are you feeling okay? ;)

The alpaca vest sounds great. I love alpaca, but can't wear it next to my skin as it's just too fluffy. Maybe I should be thinking in terms of over-garments rather than scarves!

I've been intrigued by the Hunger Games too, so will be interested to hear what you think.
