Quite a lot of Progress

Very quick update today, as I'm heading straight into a meeting...

I finished the back of my Concur. I'm now slightly confused, as my gauge was right but it seems really small. Hmmmm. But it has been surprisingly fast to knit - possibly because it has been ages since I made a garment in pieces!

I've been working on my spinning, because I really want to make this into yarn! The colours in the fibre (that I was sent by the lovely Geeky Heather) are gorgeous.

Boyfriend's sock finally has a heel and a gusset. And a small amount of foot *grins* With any luck, his February birthday socks will be finished by, oh, say Christmas ;)

And there is one more project in the picture...

I cast on using my Skinny Bugga. I meant to wait until I had finished something else, probably boyfriend's sock. But then he gave me his cold and I was feeling sorry for myself, so I cast these on *laughs*

Yep, my luxury, expensive yarn is indeed becoming luxury expensive socks. It seems extravagant, but hey, sometimes extravagance is necessary ;) I've only done part of the toes so far, so they haven't revealed a name and I haven't decided if they will have a pattern. Even so, I love the colours already.

  2. Oh you do make me laugh so much - I LOVE the way you justified casting on something else before finishing the socks! And you're right, the colours on the toe look stunning - they remind me of a bluebottle!

  4. What a fab pile of projects - love all the colours together!

Do you think your cardi will get to the right size with blocking? It's amazing what water and pins can do ;)

I think if you're going to pay out for good yarn, better to use it for something you're going to use and love on a regular basis than just have it sitting on the skein! Unless it's purely a decorative collection, I definitely think we should all be better at using our 'best' stash things for making rather than just looking at.

You know, there might be a meme in that...

  15. What a great idea - start a toe up sock and see how it knits up before you decide on a pattern. I would never have thought of that in a million years! Looks like Leyburn socks might work nicely!
