Subtitled: I really should cast on something that isn't orange!
I haven't worked on my green top at all this week (well, 4 rows, but I don't think that counts). Sooner or later I'm going to have to admit defeat and give up on the damn thing!
Second Zauberball sock has been cast on and is now just past the cuff:
I've decided to call these my "sunset socks" thanks to Kathleen's comment on Friday about the finished one being "crazy-sunset-beautiful". That description really made me smile, so sunset socks they are *grins*
I've also been working on my blanket. Not sure what possessed me to knit a blanket in DK weight, in July! I think it'll be a small blanket *laughs*
There's one more colour to add, which is a very dark chocolate brown. I love the pattern, although I'm not following the dimensions of the blocks exactly, I'm just doing what feels right to me... As usual ;) I really like how the colours are working together so far, so I'm excited to make more progress *smiles*
Remember that swap I joined on ravelry, well, the market bag that my swap partner made for me is serving as an excellent blanket yarn repository ;)
It keeps it all together, and means that I can just about fit all the rest of my stash in the appropriate drawers *laughs*
For more wonderful Wednesday's, as ever, head over to Tami's.
Blanket is looking promising! Although I do hope you're not making it out of wool haha
ReplyDeletemmmmmm beautiful oranges xx
ReplyDeleteDon't give up on your green top, just forget about it for a while and pick it up again at a later date.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for starting sock number 2!
LOVE all of those oranges!
ReplyDeleteI just finished a log cabin blanket... it ended up smaller than I had planned it to be- because I was tired of knitting! :)
Beautiful colours - I'm with you on the craziness of making blankets in June, but that's looking lovely x
ReplyDeleteLOVE the bright colors!! Makes me happy this morning.. =)
ReplyDeleteLove those socks. I'd start a blanket in July ... cuz I do odd things like that too, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love all the orange, although it has to be difficult to photograph :P I think all of your projects look great... and 4 rows DO count ;)
ReplyDeleteWooooo orange! Awesome. Knitting blankets in July is totally fine - get a headstart on winter.
ReplyDeleteI love those orange colours, they look so fresh!
ReplyDeleteSock number two is always an accomplishment. Congrats!!! I love the blanket. And not to worry, I did the same thing last summer. Scorching hot out and I cast on a blanket too.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing this post, I want to go get some yarn and start a log cabin blanket, too!
ReplyDeleteYay, orange! Come November, you'll be awfully glad you started a blanket in July. Promise. I'm terribly jealous of your market bag -- it's so pretty! And great idea to use it for yarn holding.
ReplyDeleteI love the blanket and the sock! Sunset orange is a great name for it!
ReplyDeleteI love the oranges! Good luck with the blanket in July hehe
ReplyDeleteOrange you glad to have so much orange to knit with? HAHA. OK. I'm lame. I love the name for your sunset socks! The colors are very reminiscent of such! And, you can always reserve blanket knitting for air conditioned spaces when it gets to hot to handle! It's going to be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOMG Zauberball socks! ::jealous:: I can't want to see it as the colors unfold!
ReplyDeleteseems like you like orange. Blankets in July, yes we must be mad, mine if chunky!!
ReplyDeleteYes it's a blanket, but those colors! The simple soothing pattern! That's not just a blanket, that's a therapy/meditation session for a fraction of the cost and whole lot more fun!
ReplyDeleteYou know, orange isn't used enough I think. A lot of people seem scared of it. All the projects are awesome, but especially the orange socks.
ReplyDeleteI've seen quite a few socks in Zauerball, your colour looks gorgeous. It might be my next sock yarn purchase!
ReplyDeleteI love the color combination of the blanket. If it turns out small in DK maybe it can be a lap blanket? You could set the green top aside w/o actually giving up on it. You'll probably feel like coming back to it sometime. : )
ReplyDeleteOrange is my favorite color, so your post made me smile. Love the color combinations of that blanket.
ReplyDeleteAmazing oranges, not a favorite color of mine unless it is a carrot but they really brighten things up. Good post.
ReplyDeleteAnd the blanket looks very nice.
That orange is AMAZING. I can't say I'm a big fan of it but lately I find myself using more and more of it, even wearing it. (I'm doing weird things as I get older!)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with sock number two! :D
Also, the blanket already looks fabulous! I did the same thing, deciding to start a blanket at the beginning of summer. Of course, mine's crocheted motifs so it's not like I'll have the whole thing on my lap - only while attaching motifs. Ugh.
I'm sorry to hear about the green top. :( 4 rows is much better than nothing, though, especially in terms of large garments.
I have cheated on every goal I set for myself in terms of limiting stash storage space, so all I can say about that lovely market bag is "Congratulations!" Sometimes I tell myself the only way to keep the yarn stash from growing is to knit faster :-)
ReplyDeleteYour orange projects are lovely. Log cabin blocks are fun to make, aren't they?
