Work In Progress Wednesday Number 12

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who stopped by yesterday, boyfriend was really excited by all the comments (and especially happy that people got the Star Wars reference *laughs*) So thank you for that :)

Now, having purchased and used a new circular needle, my sock sized DPNs had magically become free. So I cast on a sock for me ;)

This is using the yarn that I dyed myself *grins* I'm really enjoying knitting with it, seeing how the colours come together and smelling the fruity scent of the Kool Aid. I thought it would be cool to show how it has transformed, from skein to ball to sock:

So, that's what I've mainly been working on this week. Cria has had a few more rows, but certainly nothing worth showing off. The blanket has grown a little bit:

Not a lot, but enough to make it eye-searingly orange again *laughs*

That's it from me, but as ever, head over to Tami's for more :)

  1. Well done on mastering the magic loop. Loving the way your home-dyed yarn is knitting up too.

  2. It looks great, your hand dyed is fab. I just can't grasp toe up, maybe now I have found some short row heel love it is time to try them again as they are a PITA to make with a heel flap. Ribbed socks always look daft in photos as they scrunch up to skinny little things

  8. I love your knitting! So pretty. I can't get the hang of 2 at a time but that is next on my list of things I want to learn to actually do well. I think part of my problem with learning it was that it seemed to take so long and make no progress. Obviously it was, since I would have both done at the same time but I think I need to see the progress more.

I love seeing what the skein looks like when it has been knit. It is always so surprising. I used to dye yarn and sell it and I always wanted to keep it and knit it to see what it would end up like. Even things I dyed together the exact same way would look slightly different.

  15. Great job on the toe up! I'm a magic loop girl myself and don't understand why people wouldn't use it!

  16. Heh, Kool-Aid scented socks! Much more fun scent for the sock drawer than lavender! (Not that I don't like lavender....) I love the Magic Loop...enjoy going 'round and 'round and 'round!!

  19. Well done - two pairs of socks on the go. It is interesting to see how your colours are coming together; it's a very nice muted multi-tonal effect.

  20. The socks look great! I love the dyeing you did yourself (it reminds me a little of my first KA dyeing) -- your boyfriend did an awesome job too, btw!

You're inspiring me to try toe-up, but I'm such a chicken. Words of advice?

  21. I have never knitted socks before. The colors turned out great. I didn't think Kool Aid could turn out such bright colors.

  25. I have to laugh every time I see your blog name on Tami's. I read it as pinkundies! I have no idea why, must be my own Auto Correct brain!

  29. Magic loop is cool. I learnt it too this week and think my dpns will now be redundant. As you said it is great to be able to check the measurement with magic loop. The kool aid socks look great - I can smell the fruitiness from here :-)
