Work In Progress Wednesday Number 11

This week my sunset socks will not be appearing - because they are finished *grins* So please pop back on Friday to see them in all their wonderful glory ;)

My blanket now has its 4th colour section and I am now adding the next orange stripe. I'm still not sure how this will all work out, as I am really not following the dimensions in the pattern, but I'm loving it so far ;)

I haven't done a lot more on my Cria (with link added this time!), but I am pleased with how the buttonhole turned out, using Ysolda's one row buttonhole tutorial from the book *smiles* This needs some attention but was cast aside in my excitement to finish my socks ;)

So, that's it for my WIPs, pop over to Tami's for more...

  1. The beauty of the blanket is that it grows so quickly and of course my favourite, there is no sewing up!

  4. It took me a LOT of attempts to learn to cast on toe up. It does get easier as you make more socks. Glad you stuck with it!

  5. Ahh toe up socks. Here is what I use. It is a great tutorial on how to get the toe just right.

  7. Ah yes. The curse of the man sock. I know this too well. I've attempted to make three pairs of socks for my husband. Somehow they never turn out quite right. Good luck.

  8. Good luck with the toe-up sock. Which cast on are you using? I always use Judy's Magic Cast-on.

I love the button hole. One day I will have to try an Ysolda Teague pattern. I know, heresy for not having tried one yet.

  9. Ooo, those socks are going to be nice, but I agree...too dark to start in the evening! I have needlework projects I won't even attempt at night!

  10. Your buttonhole is verrrry nice! I have experimented with various techniques, and yours is one of the best I've seen. Gotta try it.

  11. Okay, first off, your button hole is amazing!! How in the world did you do that!?!?! Wow, I'm impressed.

The blanket looks great as always, and I have to say, I've been wanting to try toe up but have been scared to. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon!

  14. Glad you got the buttonhole sorted out! It's hard to get a nice tight cast on for toe-ups until you've practised a few times, and I'd think dark yarn makes it harder! Keep at it, though, it looks like you're almost there!

  16. Beginnings are always tricky - well done for battling on! Can't wait to see progress on your Cria, I'll be knitting one too x

  17. I like knitting toe up but I have yet to try that cast on. At least once you get going the hardest part will be done. Your other projects look great!

  18. Yay, finished socks! Can't wait to see :)

Looks like between us it's been a bad week for toe up socks! I much prefer top down socks, I find them less fiddly, but it's always handy to learn new techniques!

Loving Cria, that yarn is such a wonderful blue!

  22. Bravo for button holes, I have never tried one but I plan to soon as I want to make a buttoned up cowl. The blanket is looking good and best of luck with the socks! Keep at it. I love how determined you are.

  23. It is so great to see you determined to get those socks right. I would have thrown them across the room after the third attempt! Your blanket is looking so cool, loving the orange.

  24. I still haven't tried toe up socks, probably due to my ongoing shawl addiction :-)

Nice work on everything. Don't give up on the socks!
