Time Enough*

I haven't finished any knitting this week, but I do have a finished object to share *smiles*

I decided to try and make another project bag (my last one turned out far too small). I used the same tutorial, but this time made the fabrics a little bigger than before, to compensate. It turned out too big *laughs*

It was also quite a stressful experience, as my sewing machine decided to play up quite dramatically. It would stitch for an inch, break the thread, stitch again (after being rethreaded) then jam... And so on. The bag took over an hour! Not fun. But I made it through, and managed to insert the zip and line the bag, so that bit worked out ok.

Not sure about the dimensions though - it's shallower and wider than I had planned *frowns* And, as I say, bigger than planned. Looking on the bright side, this means that I can fit a project larger than a sock into it (or 2 small projects as I have in there at the moment), so it could be worse.

Just have to do a Goldilocks now and manage to make one just the right size *laughs*

The sides are pretty far from even, thanks to the sewing machine malfunctions. Frankly I just wanted to get the stitching done, so I wasn't quite as careful about getting everything exactly straight. It's got a very cute lining though ;)

As it's Friday, you know the drill... head over to Tami's, Natural Suburbia and Wisdom Begins in Wonder for more finished objects, fiber arts and general creativity :)

And come back here on Monday to see my excitable ramblings about Knit Nation and my (hopefully) amazing purchases ;)

  6. Nice! Honestly...who would ever look close enough to see any flaws but you?? The fabric is adorable, and I predict that something will end up fitting in it perfectly, as if you made it especially for that item/project! XXO-

  10. I adore the colors...they make me feel happy. I admire anyone who can sew. I have three sewing machines...all given to me...the crafter in the family. I am just all thumbs for some reason with the machine.

  12. Regardless of the size, it's very pretty!

The last time my sewing machine acted like that, I took it to a local repair shop and found that at some point, probably by breaking a needle, I had scraped up some of the internal moving parts. Once everything was polished & lined back up, it worked better than ever.

I can't wait to hear about Knit Nation... Have a lovely time.

  13. It's very pretty, love the colors, and from my perspective can't be too big. YOu just never know what you may need to put in there. Sounds like your machine has a tension issue?

  14. I loved your first one, and love this one as well. I may just have to sit down and make one of these. I bought one on Etsy and LOVE it. It would be nice to have another. Hmmm, sounds like I might have a project to do today. I'm a very very beginner on my machine, but the instructions seem pretty straight forward. :)

  26. The bag looks great. I like the butterfly fabric and the contrasting fabric on the inside. An hour doesn't seem like that long to me to make a great bag like that! Have fun at Knit Nation!

  27. Cute bag. I usually find some tiny scrap thread somewhere around the bobbin when my sewing machine acts up that way. Or sometimes is just crap thread. I keep a swiffer cloth hand to dust out the machines innards whenever it misbehaves.
