I do have some progress to show at least... Which isn't really displayed by this close up, but I liked the picture so I'm posting it anyway *laughs*
Ah, this one is a little better ;)
My second Euro Cowl is coming along. It's an easy and mindless knit, 4x1 rib in the round until the yarn runs out. And I'm loving the way the yarn dyed by boyfriend is knitting up :)
And I have assembled the assorted granny squares I had been making *grins* They are now seamed together and awaiting a border. They have become a small lap blanket, because that's the size that came out after I had used up most of the yarn *laughs* I'll show it off properly once it is finished.
One thing I discovered about granny squares (I'd never made any before, so that's why I have only just realised) - there are a tonne of ends to weave in! So many ends. I had to do them in batches so that I didn't lose the will to live ;)
oooh pretty cowl, i love the colours and the pretty ribbing. have a knitty wednesday xxx
ReplyDeleteThe cowl looks awesome! And I love anything with directions, knit until the yarn is used up. No real counting or measuring involved :-) And I hear you about the crafting slump. I have been in one as well - mainly spending my days in the garden instead of doing any knitting...or sewing...or cleaning. :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely! I really like the colour of that cowl - it's very fresh. I also hate dealing with lots of ends - it's one of the reasons I procrastinate on my crochet projects :)
ReplyDeleteOh dear that is a lot of ends to weave in, but I think the payoff is going to be worth it. I can't wait to see your finished blanket.
ReplyDeleteAnd your cowl is really a very pretty color!
Love the cowl :) It is such a fresh green and would look lovely in the dead of winter!
ReplyDeleteI hate sewing in ends which is why granny squares have never appealed to me, lol. I love the yarn for your cowl - they make me think of spring. It's very cool that your boyfriend dyed the yarn and he has good taste in colours :)
ReplyDeleteYour Boyfriend has a knack for dyeing wool --lovely colors! So bright. Love the cowl. Ahh ends to weave-I don't much like that part of kntting, either
ReplyDeleteThe yarn from your boyfriend is as gorgeous as ever...I actually thought it was store bought when I saw your knitting! Good luck with your ends, you can do it.!
ReplyDeleteAs a new granny square maker, I am also allayed by all the ends to weave in. I have started burying them and getting quite creative in the process.
ReplyDeleteGreat projects as always! I'm so excited that you are doing a granny square project, I'll just live vicariously through you, alright?
ReplyDeleteWeaving in ends really does become annoying. I have learned to just pick them up and cover them as I go with the next color change. It gives you back the will to live.
ReplyDeletepretty, pretty cowl color!! Congrats on the lap blanket!!! I don't do grannies often---but since I started attaching squares as I go---and burying ends, it's not quite so fiddly at the end. (attic24 has some great tutorials on it!!!)
ReplyDeleteYour cowl is so pretty, I love the colors.. I fixed my knitting block with a case of the Startitis.
ReplyDeleteugh - ends (shudder). Perhaps I won't force myself to learn crochet after all!
ReplyDeleteWow, boyfriend dyed that yarn? Well done! It's really lovely.
ReplyDeleteI hate ends too, but it hasn't put me off knitting colourwork yet :)
Tip for future end weaving - weave in what you don't need at the end of each square. Otherwise, you will dread it later :). (PS: I don't always follow my own advice!)
ReplyDeleteI love granny squares, but I really do hate all those ends :( Can't wait to see the finished piece!
ReplyDeleteBoyfriend dyed wool sounds really cute, and the ribbed looking cowl looks lovely!
I absolutely have no patience for granny squares, no idea why but the ends might have something to do with it. Love that multicolored yarn...nice to see what you are up to.
ReplyDeleteThat is one pretty cowl - clever boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the bright grannies - they look fantastic together.
Loving the Euro Cowl - the colours look cute
ReplyDeletehee hee, the will to live, that is a LOT of ends. but it will be worth it in the finished blanket! pretty green cowl, those are so nice to have. :)
ReplyDeleteweaving in ends never ends with grannies!
ReplyDeletelove the colour of the cowl!
Crochet over the ends, it helps...
