Work In Progress Wednesday Number 19

Firstly, thank you to everyone who left get well messages on my last post, you really cheered me up *smiles*

Due to the aforementioned being not very well, there hasn't been a fantastic amount of crafting progress over the last few days. Luckily I made a bit more progress at the end of last week, so I at least have something to show today ;)

So, boyfriend's sock finally shows evidence of some much needed attention *laughs* It had been stuck halfway up the foot for what seemed like weeks, but now it has a heel and I begin the long slog up the leg ;)

My sock is missing from this picture, but you'll see it again on Friday *grins* I haven't started the second one yet, dangerously risking second sock syndrome, so that I can focus on finally finishing boyfriend's pair.

The blue and orange blob is the start of my crobot, but I am not convinced by the pattern - this is half of the head but it already seems too deep (I may be mixing up American and English crochet terms, so fixing this needs more concentration than my fuzzy head is capable of right now!)

My Cria has seen some more progress, another 20 rows, and is starting to take some shape. I may be the only one that thinks this, but I have to say that I am not enjoying making this garment. I know how popular Ysolda's patterns are, but I'm really not loving the way this is constructed. I know I'll like it when it is done, so I'm getting there, just not very quickly ;)

A few people have previously commented on liking the purpley-blue yarn I'm using to make it, which has always made me feel a little guilty for my poor photography skills! The yarn is not purpley at all in real-life, but my camera likes to think it is. So here is a slightly tweaked photo, to more accurately capture the colour (and potentially show the progress a little better):

Hmmm, it still looks kinda purple in places *rolls eyes at camera*

So that's my WIPW update. Book-wise, for the Yarn Along, I found a book on my shelf that I bought ages ago, is by one of my favourite authors and for some reason hasn't been read yet. So it's about time I started it!

  3. Sock is looking great - can't wait to see yours on Friday! Crobot??? What is he/she going to be?? My camera likes to change colors too - very annoying! ;-D

  4. Hooray for finished socks and socky progress. I still like the blue, although I tend to like blue so whatever shade it actually is I suspect I would like it

  5. I admire you making socks, I can't even wrap my head around them at this stage in my knitting life. I'm glad to see someone else that has 3+ things going at once, I just can't help myself!

  6. I'm always having to adjust color tone in my pictures. Cameras are a pain. :)

Love the boyfriend sock and your nice navy blue yarn for your Cria.

  10. purple? blue? no matter--it's quite lovely!!!!
(Love Jeffrey Deaver--although all his books sort of "run together" for me after I read them.--good escape reads. Enjoy!)

  12. So I am not the only one with a dislike for Ysolda's patterns. I've got Liesl on the needles behind the sofa. It will probably get frogged as my brain struggled with the pattern construction. Love the neckline tho on the cria. My camera has problems with blue / green and purple!

  14. "Crobot" (LOL!) Is that a crochet robot? ;0) I wanted to knit my son a rocket ship with a pocket for a tiny astronaut, but found it way too tedious.

  15. I love the deep blue of Cria. I have yet to try any of Ysolda's patterns so I won't pass judgement until I do. ;)

  16. I really like the color you choose for your boyfriends sock.. for some reason I love starting the first sock but when I have to start the second sock that feeling just isn't there? You just have to start and keep trying to finish so you can have a pair..smile..

    Blessings to you,

  23. Wow!You've got a lot of WIPs going on. That's what my knitting basket looks like these days! :) I love the yarn you are using for your boyfriend's sock. It looks great! And I know what you mean about the camera completely distorting the color of yarn. It can be so hard to get blues and purples photographed right!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and leaving a nice comment. :)

  29. Hmmmm, had to smile at your 'second sock syndrome' comment. I get the exact same thing! The only thing that keeps me going is the thought of a multitude of single socks staring mockingly at me! What is a Crobot????

  30. hey there. got a question... on pg 9 Body of the cria. i've worked 37 rows in pat.. now for the 'next row' (inc row) then it says work 23 rows in pattern. have you done this part yet?

i'm wondering does she mean work23 rows in the **next row (inc row) pattern? or does she mean just the pattern we just worked 37 rows on? since this part is the midline waist /hip part, perhaps it is increasing each row for 23 rows?
hmnnn,... this is the only part of this pattern ive gotten stuck on. ;/

  31. hey again. hmn.. i think she must mean to just do that one increase row and then do 23 more rows same as we did with the 37. otherwise...that would be some mighty big hips dontcha think?
then it looks like we do the increase row once more, then another 23 rows of the same (slightly boring) knit purl thing.
get busy on those 5 rows then wouldya!!! :))
we got a sweater to make darlin!
    love,
    ang
