Yarn Cocktails

I realised that I completely forgot to tell you about a new knitting book that I bought after Christmas. It was in the sales, and I probably wouldn't have picked it up had it not been for the fact that it was only 50p *laughs*

The Knitter's Guide to Yarn Cocktails.

If I'm honest, I was most drawn to it by the picture on the cover, and the price ;) The book is slightly strange, with all the patterns named after cocktails - most of which don't bear any resemblance to the pattern or even the colour of the yarn used. But it is a bit of (cheap) fun, especially the slightly bizarre pattern descriptions!

There are a couple of patterns that I may consider making at some point. And there are a few that are, quite frankly, terrifying:

The Banana Boat Men's Boxers, for example.

Funnily enough, boyfriend has requested that I do not, ever, under any circumstances, make these for him *laughs*

  2. Heh, I have the crochet version of the book, bought for much the same reason, and it has equally bizarre projects lurking in there. The kind where you are just left staring and thinking "WHY???"

I can understand your bf being nervous of woolly boxers. Warm but odd, I think!

  3. Our knitting group had a knit along for those boxers a couple of years ago. The people who made them ended up with some sassy boxers. One person actually knitting in something on the butt.

  4. Interesting boxers:) I can see lots of bad bad things that could happen with those.
I love finding a crazy cheap book like that with fun weird things. It's totally worth the entertainment.

  5. Yikes... I don't think there is ever a good reason for knitted boxers!

  6. I think they might me cute for a women or girl, but no one else. I really don' think they'd be overly comfy.

  8. The cover photo would be a draw for me as well, it is very cute. But, yeah, I wouldn't really be interested in the patterns from the sound of it, although I could blackmail my Mr. Engineer with those shorts. ; )

  9. I have the same tendency to buy things that are reduced in price--such a deal! How wrong is it that I want the boxers for myself?

  13. Hi there, very interesting book but I would imagine that those knitted boxers would be itchy, to say the least, LOL Thanks for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

  15. Those are something I would make for my boyfriend as a joke, if it weren't for the fact that he would actually wear them and tell everyone I made them...
