Work In Progress Wednesday Number 36

Last week I had a very busy WIP picture, having had a bit of a casting on frenzy... This week, I have had a bit of a finishing frenzy instead *laughs* So, the scarf, hat and swap cowl are all done. I'll be posting about the hat on Friday, as it's the one I am most proud of ;)

You may wonder if this means I have cast on more projects to replace them. It's a fair assumption *laughs* But no, I have been working on the 3 WIPs I still have, showing remarkable restraint!

You can see that I have dragged the fuzzy ballet sweater out of hibernation finally. I stopped knitting it last year because I was focusing on Christmas presents, but as I only need to finish the sleeves and seam it together, it seemed a waste to leave it hanging around!

My Princess Unicorn sock now has a heel. And a much more sensible shape than my last pair of socks *laughs* See...?!

My Shalom cardigan has passed the twisted rib yoke and is ready to divide for the sleeves. I'm making it in a particularly cheap and cheerful yarn, 80% acrylic/20% wool. Similar to the one I used for my hooded cardigan. I forgot how much I actually really like this yarn. It's surprisingly soft, knits up nicely and is very easy to work with and care for. It's certainly not the most luxurious, but great for a cardigan that I hope will get a lot of wear.

As for the book - I am reading "The Raw Shark Texts". I picked it up from the library, based entirely on the title and the cover *laughs* I'm not far into it yet, but it seems interesting and a bit different.

As ever, if you want more lovely knitting and reading content, head to Tami's and Ginny's *smiles* And this week I am also linking up at Frontier Dreams for Keep Calm Crafting On.

  12. I love the yoke of your Shalom, it looks gorgeous. And i think the best yarn for clothes is not always the most expensive. i'd sooner be able to wash them easily.

Well done on all of the FOs. I seemed to cast lost on but not finish anything.

  15. What's not to like about that yarn for your cardigan?! You say it's soft, and it seems to hold the stitch definition beautifully! I'd be interested in a review of the book once you're further into it. I've got a few books on the go, but they aren't really holding my interest.

  26. You're such a busy knitter...and so inspiring! I love the reference to Madame Defarge...that was a book we had to read when I was a sophomore in high school...the tale of 2 cities by Dickens...the guillotine!
Yeah, those knit boxers on your previous post...don't think so!!!

  27. Ha! I always pick books by the cover and title (when I'm browsing the library shelves that is) and I really like it when choices like that work out too!

I am impressed with you staying with your WIPs. I cleaned my office last week and was shocked at the number of WIPs under my desk that I haven't touched since before Christmas...and yet, I still started my sweater for my daughter. :-)

  31. At least your cast on frenzy was quickly followed by a finishing frenzy! There is usually more of a gap between those 2 events at my house. : ) I look forward to seeing the hat on Friday.

  42. Wow! Looks like you have made some serious progress! I have had the itch to cast on about 6 different projects right now and I am trying to control myself and set a limit to 2 at a time. Why is the start of a project just so much more appealing than the end??

  43. I love cheap and cheerful yearn, it is surprising when you knit with it how nice it actually is! All your projects are looking great so far, and well done you for bringing those WIPs out of hibernation! Not an easy thing to do hehe x
