Work in progress Wednesday Number 32

Hey look, a progress picture with multiple colours *laughs*

No book picture again, I'm more into flicking through magazines at the moment, much faster ;)

So, mum's scarf (which isn't a Christmas present technically, so it's bloggable!) I've probably doubled the length since last week, although it's hard to tell in the picture. Not sure it'll be finished before Christmas, even though that was the original plan. Sorry mum!

New knitting is a Christmas present, but as my grandparents don't read the blog, I think it is safe to post *laughs* The dishcloth cotton I ordered arrived so I cast on to try it out. I need to go down a needle size, I think, as I'm not completely happy with how the fabric is coming out. Luckily, it is not quite as horrible to knit with as 4ply cotton *sighs with relief* But I still don't think I'll ever be a lover of cotton yarn!

And in my most exciting update, Cria is now only one sleeve away from completion *cheers* I've even been weaving in ends as I go to avoid having to do it when I finish. Looks like this cardigan may get completed someday soon *grins* Sorry for the crap picture though, I'm still getting used to the fact that my Christmas tree is now in the way of my usual photography spot!

I'm posting this update in a bit of a hurry, as I'm heading into an all day meeting momentarily, so I won't be able to catch up on everyone's work in progress Wednesday and yarn along posts until much later... Hopefully I made sense though *laughs*

  1. You are very busy! I love your Mum's scarf, the colour is fabulous. I agree with you about cotton yarn, I've recently been working with a bamboo, cotton mix and am enjoying the experience much more. Maybe that would be worth a try. Merry Christmas.

  4. You are so close to finishing the sweater!!! I bet next week you will have completed it. There are many people in my family that do not read my blog. So most of the time I am safe to talk about my gifts.

  6. I am always amazed at how much you accomplish each week. I have discovered I don't like knitting with cotton either, which is really a shame since I live in a climate that doesn't really call for wool.

  9. Wow, you've got lots going on! I'm not sure I'll ever be a fan of knitting cotton but I do like the dishcloths once they're done.

  11. Very smart to weave in those ends as you go! I can crochet with cotton but hate knitting with it; glad you're able to tackle it. Everything looks great!

  12. Sleeeeeeeve!! It's so exciting when a garment gets sleeves - it starts to look like it's going to get finished after all :D

Cotton's a weird one. I like to crochet with it, but wouldn't knit with it until I was a lot more confident. I think it's to do with the way you move needles in knitting. When I first started, I was so surprised at how far apart I could move them! I can definitely imagine that cotton would make that harder, but with crochet, it's not so bad. You just have to choose the right hook size.

Your scarf is giving me hope - mine is nowhere near that long, but yours looks so pretty that I want to catch you up :) Although at the rate I knit, you're definitely going to beat me :D

  14. I don't like knitting with cotton either! I love your Cria and the scarf! Smart moving weaving ends in as you go, I try to do that too, as it is almost the worst part. Sewing.........that's the worst bit!

  16. Cotton can be difficult to work with but it can also be very nice. All your projects look great!

  17. The scarf is gorgeous! I love the colours of it. I hope the dish cloths work out for you. I quite like crocheting with cotton - I find it's quite splitty and very annoying, but I love the way it feels so I persevere, lol. I've not tried knitting with cotton though. I can't wait to see Cria finished!
