Work In Progress Wednesday Number 14

This week I have, once again, mostly been working on my blanket. I was feeling as though I should work on my sock or my Cria, and started to feel guilty... Then I reminded myself that there are no knitting police, and I can knit whatever I like *laughs*

I also have been reading a bit more, as mentioned recently, so here is the standard "what I'm knitting and reading" picture *smiles* Although, by the time I post this, the book will be finished ;)

So, blanket...

I'm working on the brown section on the left hand side at the moment. I've decided to extend the cream on the right as the outer 2 strips will determine the width of the blanket and I feel it is a little too narrow at the moment. I can't wait to finish this, I love it already and I want to use it!

As always, pop over and see Tami for more WIP Wednesdays. Plus, as I'm showing knitting and reading, I'm linking up at Ginny's Yarn Along too :)

  1. I love Tess Gerritsen <3 If you love her, you will probably also like Karen Slaughter, Patricia Cornwell, Lee Child, Jefferey Deaver... I love reading :) Too bad you kind of need both hands to knit/crochet, otherwise I would be reading and crocheting non-stop ;)
    xo,

  3. That's a great perspective on toe-up socks! I feel just the same.
That blanket is too beautiful, I can't wait to see the finished product!

  4. Love the colours in the blanket. Very striking. I haven't made any socks yet. I suspect I would suffer greatly from Second Sock Syndrome.

  5. The colors of the blanket are fantastic, especially the orangy-red!! I need to start a pair of socks soon for my daughter.

  10. I'm a cuff down sock knitter , I love knitting the cuff and the heel but get very impatient when knitting the foot .

Love the sock photo , guess I'm easily amused as well ...

  11. Love the socks, the colours are rich and very manly. The blanket looks very warm, the colours suit snuggling. Hopefully you finish it soon!

  12. Each week you tease me with that adorable blanket - I can't wait to see it finished!

Totally know what you mean about the Knitting Police - I've been feeling the same about my crochet scarf - but it's way too warm to wear it so I'm trying not to get panicky about not working on it for a few weeks!

I also LOVE reading - I got a Kindle at the weekend and IT'S POSSIBLE TO KNIT AND READ as long as it's nothing too complicated - although I had to put the knitting down for the most exciting parts of my book! After taking months to read anything for the last few years I am now hurtling through the "pages" on my Kindle!

  13. isn't it funny how we feel guilty about taking so long on a project - I feel like everyone is thinking, god hasn't she finished that yet!! Yours is looking good btw, and no I'm not thinking that

  14. So glad I popped over - that blanket is gorgeous! And I'm seeing great socks everywhere, it's making me jealous :-)

  15. But there are "knitting police". They jump out at you when you least expect in coffee shops, or so I've read on Ravelry.

Being easily amused is a good thing.

  16. I hate knitting socks. Admittedly, I only tried once but... the needles were too small (I bent them and eventually broke one), the yarn was too thin, and the pattern too boring. By the time I got partway done with one, I knew I'd never make it through it's mate so I abandoned the project and have never tried again. LOL! - Alex

  17. The blanket is looking amazing. Add me to the list of folks who are excited to see it when it's all done. Sock is looking good, too. I've yet to try the toe-up variety, but I should. Some day. :)

That blanket looks very bright and cosy, hope you get it finished soon :)

  20. Good for you... being easily amused. Makes life much more fun. :) Your knits are wonderful and I'm quite impressed at the continuing progress on so many grand projects. Oh yes, and I'm so thankful to hear there are no knitting police!! What a relief.

  22. You are braver than I, I've not attempted socks yet. I want to master lace first! The sock looks good and so does the blanket!

  23. That blanket is looking lovely! I love the colours. I'm not brave enough to start a blanket yet. It's taken me over a year just to do half a sweater!

  27. Wow the blanket is really coming on! I love it!

  28. I love the fact that there are no knitting police.
They'd probably make you finish one project before starting another one, a bit like 'no dessert til you've finished your dinner'.

  29. I sometimes feel guilty about leaving projects unfinished for a long time - as if the yarn will start to feel neglected and lonely. Haha, it's a good thing there aren't knitting police!

I love your log cabin blanket! I've always meant to start one because it's so relaxing to have all that mindless knitting to look forward to =)

  30. Wow, look at that blanket, amazing!

  33. The blanket is turning out sooo good. Love the sock pics, especially the stand up one! Don't boy socks take forever!?!?!

  34. I love the blanket. I have done that technique on small squares but have never done it on a big blanket - you are definitely making me think it might be time to try.
I've only ever done socks down, I've never done the toe-up but have had people swear it's easier. I've resisted learning it that way -you make me think that maybe I am right!

  35. Both of these projects are absolutely lovely. I love the Mondrian look of the blanket. :)
